Ik ben Youri van Oorschot, en al 12 jaar zet ik me met hart en ziel in voor onze gemeente. Die diepe betrokkenheid is de reden waarom ik me thuis voel bij GBV. Een partij die al 60 jaar geworteld is in Veldhoven en, zonder banden met Den Haag, luistert naar wat er écht speelt in onze straten.
Mijn focus voor de komende jaren ligt op drie concrete zaken:
1. Onze Voorzieningen. Veldhoven groeit, en dat is een goede zaak. Maar dat betekent ook dat onze voorzieningen mee moeten groeien. Dit gaat over meer dan alleen stenen; het gaat om de leefbaarheid. Een bloeiend verenigingsleven en goede sportaccommodaties zijn het cement van onze samenleving. Ze houden ons fit en brengen ons samen. Daarom wil ik dat de gemeente hierin proactief investeert, zodat iedereen kan blijven meedoen.
2. Betaalbare Woningen met behoud van karakter. Een betaalbaar thuis is een basisrecht. We moeten niet alleen praten over bouwen, maar het ook écht doen. Dat betekent bouwen op een manier die bij Veldhoven past, met behoud van ons waardevolle dorpse karakter. Met slimme en concrete plannen zorgen we ervoor dat onze jongeren een toekomst in Veldhoven kunnen opbouwen en onze ouderen hier in hun vertrouwde omgeving kunnen blijven wonen, zonder dat we de sfeer van onze gemeente verliezen.
3. Verkeer met verstand. Mijn aanpak is helder: langzaam waar het moet, vlot waar het kan. Veiligheid staat voorop, zéker rond scholen en in woonwijken. Maar we moeten niet doorslaan door op belangrijke doorgaande wegen onnodig de vaart eruit te halen. Een slim en logisch verkeersplan zorgt voor veiligheid én een goede doorstroming. Dat is geen compromis, dat is gewoon gezond verstand.
Deze speerpunten zijn voor mij de kern van goed lokaal bestuur. Nuchter, concreet en gericht op wat voor u belangrijk is. Dat is de aanpak waar GBV al 60 jaar voor staat. Onze slogan is niet voor niets: Lokaal Krachtig.

This deep commitment is why I feel at home with GBV, a party that has been rooted in Veldhoven for 60 years and, with no ties to national politics, listens to what is truly happening in our streets.
My focus for the coming years is on three concrete matters:
1. Our Facilities. Veldhoven is growing, and that’s a good thing. But it also means that our facilities must grow along with it. This is about more than just bricks and mortar; it’s about livability. A thriving community life and good sports accommodations are the cement of our society. They keep us healthy and bring us together. That is why I want the municipality to invest proactively in this, so that everyone can continue to participate.
2. Affordable Housing While Preserving Character. An affordable home is a basic right. We must not just talk about building, but actually do it. That means building in a way that fits Veldhoven, while preserving our valuable village character. With smart and concrete plans, we will ensure that our young people can build a future in Veldhoven and that our seniors can continue to live here in their trusted environment, without losing the atmosphere of our community.
3. Traffic with Common Sense. My approach is clear: slow where necessary, efficient where possible. Safety is paramount, especially around schools and in residential areas. But we shouldn’t go overboard by unnecessarily slowing down traffic on major thoroughfares. A smart and logical traffic plan ensures both safety and good flow. That isn’t a compromise; it’s simply common sense.
These key issues are, for me, the core of good local governance. Down-to-earth, concrete, and focused on what is important to you. That is the approach GBV has stood for for 60 years. It’s no coincidence that our slogan is: Locally Strong (Lokaal Krachtig).
